about

Greetings :) my name is Maynor J Perez and I am a first-generation American immigrant . I was born in Los Angeles. CA, raised by my single immigrant mother and my older siblings who fled Nicaragua as refugees in the 80s .

In my earliest memories, I recall collecting scraps from left over piñatas and taking them home to make new ones. I would play in the mud and create semi functioning water fountains with old water bottles. I'd stack them up and watch the water flow. I had many failed attempts but didn't give up, thus my passion for creating and innovation began. I grew up with an unspoken understanding that my family did not have a lot of money, so I begun to think outside the box.

My mother is extremely resourceful, and I have adopted this into my lifestyle. It wasn't always this way. As an adolescent I was embarrassed to be seen struggling in academics, with my limited wardrobe and my household with the left over beans in the butter container... My mother, a seamstress taught me how to hand stitch at 8 years old, so I started to make my own clothes to compensate for my confidence at school . Despite not being wealthy, I was always complimented on how creative and artistic I am, this got me through my studies.

Flash forward as an adult... I studied cosmetology to work on my self confidence . I worked in the beauty industry for 12 years and realized, this isn't me and that beauty is beyond the surface. I did however, learn how to style my hair for once and become "pretty" LOL. One day while working as a brow specialist I emptied out my work stations trash bin. Staring at the daily 3 pounds of single-use trash I had accumulated, I had an epiphany! Feeling awful to have created so much waste for the sake of beauty and yearning for more meaning in life, I vowed to figure out what that was for myself . I quit my job of 8 years with no plan b ( I don't recommend) but of course it was the best decision for myself. Becoming free of the matrix, I went back to my first LOVE, which is art. I've had many jobs and always would revert back to what I was good at, that is taking something broken and making it new again . Giving trash a second chance at life .

I now know my purpose , I am a custom Artist who works with upcyclying and repurposed materials. My number ONE inspiration is nature , my art is dedicated to showcase nature's beauty while being mindful of my own carbon footprint, hoping to inspire others follow. Maybe in this lifetime we can collectively redefine what trash means ,in some parts of the world this is already being implemented! My dream for the planet would be to keep trash out of our rivers, oceans and beautiful landscapes we share with other beautiful creatures.

serving OUR planet means the WORLD to me.

if you've read this far thank you for hearing my story. Watch me unfold my god given talents as I display them to the world .This is my livelihood, This IS my Gallery! thank you for supporting my BIG business.

World peace ,and Up-cycling. Personalized by your truly, Maynor J Perez.
